State Pass-Through Entity Estimated Tax Payments

Many states have implemented pass-through entity (PTE) taxes, requiring partnerships and S corporations to make estimated tax payments at the entity level. These payments typically follow the quarterly schedule above, except for the 4th installment, which is often due by December 15. Rules, due dates, and payment procedures vary by state.

PTE estimated tax deadlines in Virginia and Maryland generally follow these patterns (subject to entity type and state-specific rules):

Virginia PTE Estimated Payment Dates

  • 1st installment: April 15, 2026
  • 2nd installment: June 15, 2026
  • 3rd installment: September 15, 2026
  • 4th installment: December 15, 2026

Maryland PTE Estimated Payment Dates

  • 1st installment: April 15, 2026
  • 2nd installment: June 15, 2026
  • 3rd installment: September 15, 2026
  • 4th installment: December 15, 2026

Because state rules and deadlines can vary and may change from year to year, it’s important to check with your state’s department of taxation or revenue authority for the most accurate and up-to-date information.
