Internship Program Overview
Wendroff & Associates offers an initial internship opportunity to qualified students who would like experience working in a full-service accounting firm. Internships are open to students who have strong academic credentials and a desire to work in public accounting.
The internship is part time, approximately 20 to 40 hours a week depending on your university schedule, and duties include Small Business Accounting using QuickBooks Online and Desktop; Tax Code Research using Checkpoint; the IRS Practitioner’s Hotline; VA/DC/MD Dept of Taxation; and other resources; assisting staff with tax and materials preparation; individual and business basic tax preparation and office support.
Interns will also be invited to participate in other Wendroff business and team functions, such as our weekly training meetings, NonprofitCommittee Meetings, social activities and client meetings.

Who Can Apply for the Wendroff Internship Program?
Our internship program is best suited for college juniors and seniors and first and second year master’s students majoring in accounting or a related field looking for an initial, part-time internship at a boutique public CPA firm. Applicants will be directly involved in public accounting activities including tax preparation, tax research, accounting and more. This is a paid internship.
The 30/60/90 Day Experience
Our mature internship training and development system was created to help you learn and build upon your strengths, embrace your passions, and develop new hands-on skills.
First 30 Days:
You will be trained to do basic accounting and administrative tasks to better understand accounting firm operations. These tasks include data entry, bank reconciliations, organizing workpapers for accountants to prepare tax returns and data analysis.
30-60 Days:
You will conduct research for team members on hot topics, handle individual tax returns projects as a preparer, call IRS and state/local governments, and independently do monthly bookkeeping for small businesses instead of just a basic bank reconciliation.
60-90 Days:
You will gradually get familiar with individual tax return projects, master the entire bookkeeping process, draft emails for accountants, and be trained to handle higher level projects such as payroll allocations, AP, consulting, and business return preparation.
