The Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants (VSCPA) is hosting the first-ever CPA Day of Service on Friday, September 18, 2009, as part of “Virginia CPA Week.” Wendroff & Associates, CPA is pleased to announce its participation in the CPA Day of Service by assisting the Arlington Food Assistance Center.
In honor of the VSCPA’s Centennial anniversary, CPA firms and individual CPAs across Virginia will unite together on this day for volunteer activities of their choice. It’s a single day of volunteer service that represents the CPA profession’s ongoing commitment to serving the communities where its professionals live and work, through old-fashioned volunteerism.
To spotlight the value CPAs offer the Commonwealth’s citizens and commerce, Gov. Timothy Kaine signed a proclamation recognizing September 13–19, 2009, as ”Virginia Certified Public Accountants Week.” The proclamation was introduced by the VSCPA as part of its Centennial anniversary in 2009.
Wendroff & Associates and the VSCPA hopes the commemorative week, along with the CPA Day of Service, will build awareness of the significant growth and importance of the CPA profession and the VSCPA, which now serves more than 8,700 members. CPAs are trusted advisors to businesses, organizations and individuals, helping them make sound financial decisions, and this week highlights the CPA profession’s important contributions to Virginia citizens and communities.
“I personally couldn’t be more proud of this event, and we applaud all the work Gov. Kaine and the VSCPA have put into making this happen,” said Brian Wendroff, Managing Partner for Wendroff & Associates. “Just as important as providing excellent service is giving back to the community, and we appreciate the opportunity to give a little bit back in comparison to what Arlington has meant to us.”
Wendroff & Associates, CPA will be working from 9:30am to 1pm with the Arlington Food Assistance Center, helping organize donations, distribute food and assist patrons with donating items. To find out more information about the AFAC, go to www.afacinfo.org.
